A crown wheel Royal® wheel set consists of a crown wheel and a pinion (typically straight-toothed). The geometry of the teeth on the crown gear is similar to a curved rack. The pressure angle changes over the tooth width. The pinion has conventional involute teeth. The rolling properties are like that of a spur gear.
